Episode 61 - Roger Beaty - NEUROCREATIVITY 7: Creative Thinking

How does the brain develop new ideas? And are different neural networks involved in different types of creativity?  In this week’s episode Dr. Roger Beaty talks about the three neural networks that drive the way we think and shares insights about managing your own personal creativity.

Big insights include:

  • Take a break to help ‘re-set’ the mind

  • Harness the power of a positive mood to boost creativity

  • Focus on the tiny details of something (anything!) before generating new ideas

Dr. Roger Beaty is an assistant professor of psychology at Pennsylvania State University and the principal director of the Cognitive Neuroscience of Creativity Lab. Having studied creativity for ten years, he is primarily interested in understanding the brain basis of creative thoughts.
